America is a mobile society. Friendships between Americans can be close and real, yet disappear soon if situations change. Neither side feels hurt by this. Both may exchange Christmas greetings for a year or two, perhaps a few letters for a while — then no more. If the same two people meet again by chance, even years later, they pick up the friendship. This can be quite difficult for us Chinese to understand, because friendships between us flower more slowly but then may become lifelong feelings, extending sometimes deeply into both families.
Americans are ready to receive us foreigners at their homes, share their holidays, and their home life. They will enjoy welcoming us and be pleased if we accept their hospitality easily.
Another difficult point for us Chinese to understand Americans is that although they include us warmly in their personal everyday lives, they don’t show their politeness to us if it requires a great deal of time. This is usually the opposite of the practice in our country where we may be generous with our time. Sometimes, we, as hosts, will appear at airports even in the middle of the night to meet a friend. We may take days off to act as guides to our foreign friends. The Americans, however, express their welcome usually at homes, but truly can not manage the time to do a great deal with a visitor outside their daily routine. They will probably expect us to get ourselves from the airport to our own hotel by bus. And they expect that we will phone them from there. Once we arrive at their homes, the welcome will be full, warm and real. We will find ourselves treated hospitably.
For the Americans, it is often considered more friendly to invite a friend to their homes than to go to restaurants, except for purely business matters. So accept their hospitality at home!
24.The writer of this passage must be ______.
A. an American       B. a Chinese
C. a professor       D. a student
25.Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?
A. Friendships between Americans usually extend deeply into their families.
B. Friendships between Americans usually last for all their lives.
C. Americans will continue their friendships again even after a long break.
D. Americans always show their warmth even if they are very busy.
26.The underlined words “generous with our time” in Paragraph 3 probably mean ______.
A. strict with time       B. serious with time
C. careful with time      D. willing to spend time
27.A suitable title for this passage would probably be “______”.

An Extension of the Human Brain
Other people can help us compensate for our mental and emotional deficiencies (欠缺),much as a wooden leg can compensate for a physical deficiency. To be exact, other people can extend our intelligence and help us understand and adjust our emotions. When another person helps us in such ways, he or she is participating in what I’ve called a "social prosthetic (义肢的)system." Such systems do not need to operate face-to-face, and it’s clear to me that the Internet is expanding the range of my own social prosthetic systems. It’s already a big bank of many minds. Even in its current state, the Internet has extended my memory and judgment.
Regarding memory: Once I look up something on the Internet, I don’t need to keep all the details for future use—I know where to find that information again and can quickly and easily do so. More generally, the Internet functions as if it were my memory. This function of the Internet is particularly striking when I’m writing; I’m no longer comfortable writing if I’m not connected to the Internet. It’s become natural to check facts as I write, taking a minute or two to dip into PubMed, Wikipedia, or other websites.
Regarding judgment: The Internet has made me smarter in matters small and large. For example, when I’m writing a textbook, it has become second nature to check a dozen definitions of a key term, which helps me dig into the core and understand its meaning. But more than that, I now regularly compare my views with those of many others. If I have a "new idea," I now quickly look to see whether somebody else has already thought of it, or something similar—and I then compare what I think with what others have thought. This certainly makes my own views clearer. Moreover, I can find out whether my reactions to an event are reasonable enough by reading about those of others on the Internet.
These effects of the Internet have become even more striking since I’ve begun using a smartphone. I now regularly pull out my phone to check a fact, watch a video, read weibo. Such activities fill the spaces that used to be dead time (such as waiting for somebody to arrive for a lunch meeting).
But that’s the upside (好处). The downside is that in those dead periods I often would let my thoughts flow and sometimes would have an unexpected insight or idea. Those opportunities are now fewer and farther between.

President Jackson had very little education. In fact,he had difficulty reading and writing. When important papers came to Jackson,he tried to read them and then had his assistants explain what they said. They caned the club the Old Kinderhook Club, and anyone who supported Van Buren was called “OK”.

此时,要注意一些转折词,如but, yet, however, although, in spite of, by contrast, on the contrary等。

从后面的句子to see all the different kinds of people who passed by 看到运动员通过应该是兴奋的。故选A。 He was running his race and I was running mine.
With the proper preparation and training, 只有D 符合。 bring out产生,pass out分配; 分发take out拿出, pick out 挑选出,根据上下文,作者是给运动员分配水的。故选B。

61.Internet
62.participates/joins
63.keeping
64.all/different/various
65.heart/core
66.check
67.judge
68.mixed/two
69.convenient
70.reduce
Such systems do not need to operate face-to-face, and it’s clear to me that the Internet is expanding the range of my own social prosthetic systems.
62.participates/joins 同义句转换。 It’s already a big bank of many minds. Even in its current state, the Internet has extended my memory and judgment.可知动词短语"participate/join in"符合句意。
Once I look up something on the Internet, I don’t need to keep all the details....."
64.all/different/various 同义词转换。 The Internet has made me smarter in matters small and large.可知原文中"matters small and large"就是"all/different/various"的事情。
65.heart/core 同义句转换。根据第三段第二句".....which helps me dig into the core and understand its meaning"可知网络能让我们找到事物的核心并理解其真正含义。故短语"the core/heart of the matter"和原文中"dig into the core"语义一致。
If I have a " new idea," I now quickly look to see whether somebody else has already thought of it, or something similar—and I then compare what I think with what others have thought."
Moreover, I can find out whether my reactions to an event are reasonable enough by reading about those of others on the Internet."
68.mixed/two 归纳总结。
I now regularly pull out my phone to check a fact, watch a video, read weibo. Such activities fill the spaces that used to be dead time (such as waiting for somebody to arrive for a lunch meeting).
The downside is that in those dead periods I often would let my thoughts flow and sometimes would have an unexpected insight or idea. Those opportunities are now fewer and farther between."

【小题4】how---what
【小题5】but---and
【小题6】realize---realized
【小题7】He went---I went
【小题8】smiled---smiling
【小题8】 happily---happy
【小题10】a great fun---great fun
故invited后加to。
【小题4】how---what              考查连词。 故how---what。
【小题5】but---and                考查连词。
【小题7】He went---I went          考查人称代词。 故He went---I went。
10】a great fun---great fun 故a great fun---great fun。
It is said that three so little cars can fit in with the space now needed for one car of the usual size. fit in适应,适合;装配好;找时间做,故把fit in with---去掉with。
故a great fun---great fun。
72.
